For more than 30 years the Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center has been providing programs and services to hundreds of clients annually.  Our mission is to improve the emotional and physical health of individuals through the therapeutic use of horses, and to serve as an international training ground and education center for therapeutic riding techniques and instruction.

As a nonprofit organization, the Cheff Center relies on financial and in-kind contributions to support our programs.  Our students require financial support to participate in our program. Although we ask a fee, it doesn’t cover our costs.

The Cheff Center has compiled a list of items needed to support both the educational goals and the day-to-day operational needs of the Center. View the wish list.

Through our Adopt-a-Rider scholarship program, students who would not be able to participate due to financial reasons now can thanks to our donors!  Donors can sponsor one or more clients per semester, per year, or forever through multiple giving options.

Additionally, the Cheff Center relies on annual, memorial, and in-kind gifts to support our programs and needs for the organization.Donors can give in memory of a loved one, donate equipment to support the program including tack, horses, and tractors, or give directly to our annual campaign.

In addition to contributing financial and in-kind donations, individuals and corporations can volunteer their time.

Another way to support the long-term future of our organization is to give a planned gift.  By calling Blaine Lam, interim executive director, at 269-345-1113, we can discuss the many ways donors can create a legacy at the Cheff Center.

Check with your company or organization to see if they have a matching gift program. Your human resource or personnel department will be able to provide information.

Since 1970, the Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center has been operating without the aid of government funds. Instead, the investment income from the Cheff Foundation and the generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations has kept this national riding therapy program viable.

The program is growing, and so are the needs. More scholarship funds are needed to allow new students to ride at little or no cost. Additional funding is needed to counter skyrocketing horse care, equipment, transportation, and insurance costs.
