Getting Through The Holidays

  • Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center 8450 North 43rd Street Augusta, MI, 49012 United States (map)

Don’t feel like a holly, jolly elf much of the time this holiday season?  Welcome to the club.  It is completely normal to feel stressed, overwhelmed at times, or even like the energy required to celebrate is just too much this year.  Society puts so much pressure on us to create the perfect holiday season—perfect gifts, perfect home, perfect gatherings, perfect families.  In reality, that is both unrealistic, and probably impossible.

What if, just for a few hours, we took the time to slow down, and take time for ourselves—to spend some time on the ground with horses, with absolutely no expectations of ourselves, EXCEPT to be present?  Cheff Center has been offering these self-care psychoeducational groups with horses for several years.  Our Coping With Holiday Stress group is always a hit. We slow down, learn about mindfulness and techniques to relief stress, spend time working on the ground with horses, (who are accepting, and non-judgmental of emotions), and leave feeling restored, and perhaps even more hopeful about our ability to manage holiday stress.
